Wrapped up my first quarter of grad school yesterday. Turned in a monster art history paper (Enjoyed the class, but man that paper…) and screened my first ever animatic for a bunch of animation peeps. A little nerve-wracking, but it went well. Nice to see what everyone else was working on after sitting in a dark room watching films for ten weeks.
I’m sorry the comic updates haven’t been as smooth as they need to be. Last two weekends were a little intense (but not to the same degree as some of my friends. Sleep, guys.) and it put me behind schedule. I’ve been having a lot of issues with this chapter since it’s supposed to set up Qaa’s world and establish his relationship with the big bad, plus all that introductary stuff that needs to happen. I don’t think I’ve done an amazing job at that (Hello, ngarara. How’s it been? Feel… neglected?)
For chapter two, improvements will be made for sure! There’s a couple new characters to introduce, and Qaa will finally leave the Underneath and head for the world above. Exciting stuff. Hopefully I won’t be rewriting things on the fly this time!
We’re in the home stretch for chapter one, folks. Thanks for putting up with me.
ALSO: For all the peeps I saw at Megacon (almost a month ago, I’m so terrible D:), thanks for stopping by and chatting it up. Hope you guys are enjoying the comic so far.
I’m going to put my twitter feed back on the site too. I tend to update the most there (because it’s quick). I usually announce when pages go up (and delays…).
Spring Break is upon me! Heading home to Houston for a week to get away from Savannah. Rest. Recharge. All that. I’m going to work on a couple of things, too. Namely, getting ahead on Imp King and putting together a super awesome projet for Editor’s Day in spring. Some reading and videogames will be thrown in the mix too. It is a break, after all.
I’m excited for next quarter and Lyle basically destroying me in the drawing strategies class. My art’s stagnated a lot since the start of the year and I desperately need an ass kicking. If this quarter has taught me anything, it’s that I’m incredibly lazy when given the chance to be and thrive on structure. Structure returns in two weeks, thank god.
